  • Students’ and/or administrative issues that overwhelm you
  • Burnout and boredom
  • Financial stability and success

As a teaching mentee, you will have the benefit of my college degree in education and almost four decades of teaching somatic arts and sciences. I have just about “seen it all” as a foundation-program teacher at a school that I co-founded in 1977, while traveling as a CE provider, and from presenting at numerous conferences and conventions. Many of those convention presentations were on teaching massage therapy, and I am part of the teacher training faculty at my school. I contributed several chapters and sections to the book Teaching Massage. I was the 2008 AMTA National Teacher of the Year. I am as passionate about teaching as I am about therapeutic massage and bodywork practices, and I am committed to bringing healthy touch to our world through advancing the skills of massage and bodywork instructors.

Teaching-focused Mentoring for Mastery: Supervision and Ethics groups earn you 10 CE hours. They include my guidance in these three carefully structured ways:

  • Under my leadership, your group of three to six instructors/aspiring instructors will meet (in-person or online, depending on the group) for 1.5 hours monthly.
  • Between these six monthly meetings, members interact as desired in discussions or email that I will also participate in periodically.
  • One hour of individual consultation with me during your 6 month program is also included in your tuition. (You also can schedule additional individual sessions at a discounted rate.)

Individual teaching-focused mentoring also is available by the hour or in discounted packages of 4 hours. See more details here and to schedule.

You can submit an application for Teacher Mentoring by downloading and completing the form found here. Email your completed form to carole@bodytherapyeducation.com. I will review your responses personally. Your education, experience and goals for teacher mentoring will be considered carefully to place you in a group offering you the most ideal match of participants. To maintain the quality of interaction, therapists are organized into groups no larger than 6, and usually 2-4.

I feel so lucky to love my work, and I know that sustained, decade-long love would not be possible without the guidance of mentors. My work has been challenged, and refined, and blossomed, by Carole, in particular. She seems to have an answer for every question, and yet she manages not to tell us the answer, but to guide us in finding it ourselves. With her astounding blend of great wisdom, abiding spirit, and easy humor, she makes the many challenges of our work into an opportunity to find our better selves. I draw daily from her endless experience as I figure out my own path as a therapist, writer, and teacher.

Carole Osborne is one of the finest educators in the massage and bodywork field. I have known her for over 20 years as a colleague and from her having presented trainings at my school. It is becoming more and more important to have teachers who are masterful with regard to the scientific approach to bodywork, the skillful teaching of advanced techniques, as well as sensitivity to the personhood of the client. In all these respects, Carole is one of the greats in our field. I recommend her 100%.
