Thank you for purchasing our books and products and/or enrolling in a workshop or course. We aim to have our business transactions be as satisfying as your educational experience. The following terms and conditions are our guidelines; however, please contact us if you think that your situation merits individual consideration.
Placing Orders and Enrolling We accept Visa or MasterCard payments through PayPal. If you prefer not to open a PayPal account, please send a check made out to Body Therapy Education with payment and a copy of your cart order to 1143 Sutter St. San Diego, CA 92103.
Although placing your order online here is quick, easy, and secure, you may choose to enroll or order by phone at (858) 633-3033. We are a small educational business with no fulltime employees; however, you are most likely to reach us live M-F 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Pacific Time. Trust that you may safely leave a message for an associate here to call you back. Be sure to give your number twice. Providing a best time to reach you can help to expedite your order. Because we are often out teaching and or seeing clients, we may not be able to call back until 24-36 hours during the week, and weekends a bit longer. Credit cards accepted via phone: Visa and MasterCard only.
Book bulk orders for schools or other entities must be completed by phone to accurately calculate shipping costs. Please be sure to provide relevant purchase orders, quantity and title of book, and contact person and number when you leave a message. See below for qualifications for bulk orders.
Enrollment for some of our workshops is managed through sponsoring entities not through Body Therapy Education. Clicking to register for those will take you to their website for registration directly through that school or organization. Your payments and other financial terms will be subject to their terms and conditions.
Shipping, Handling and Processing Fees on Books and Products
Your order total for books, for courses with books included, and for the Side Lying Positioning System includes shipping costs and a small order processing fee. Customers in California must pay tax on their order and these fees. You will see these line items listed on your cart order summary. They can appear slightly differently on PayPal’s documentation, but be assured no additional fees were added.
Book orders are processed and shipped within 3 business days of confirmed payment. After that, it can take as long as a week for United States Postal Service (USPS) to make delivery to an individual even by priority mail. Most single book orders are sent via mail at three price points for you to choose from. Note that if you choose the least expensive Media Mail category of shipping, it can take as long as two-three weeks for USPS delivery. International shipping will need to be determined via a phone or email order.
Side Lying Positioning Systems are usually sent by Fed-Ex from the manufacturer in Pennsylvania. They can take up to two weeks for orders to be shipped, depending on color availability. Expect delivery within three weeks. Shipping for a system is a flat fee of $25 for continental US; other areas quoted upon order.

Returns on Books and Products
All sales are final. No returns are accepted unless damaged in shipment & returned within 30 days with a return authorization approval. Please call or email to discuss that authorization. A replacement book(s) will be shipped at our cost if return is authorized. Allow 2-3 weeks for processing refunds authorized for books and other products. In most cases, you will receive a company credit with Body Therapy Education. This will be held for one year to be used on purchases with Body Therapy Education. Other terms determined individually.
Withdrawal of Enrollment
If you must withdraw from a workshop, please notify by phone or email as soon as possible. Tuition paid for most workshops includes a non- refundable deposit. Please discuss with us your reason for withdrawal, and we will do our best to hold and transfer some of your deposit to a different workshop location, minus a withdrawal processing fee. Some of our sponsoring entities have other withdrawal policies that will apply instead.
Mentoring group participants must agree to six months of active participation. Those who must withdraw must make a request for refund stating their reason for withdrawal. In most cases, only the portion of payment unused, minus a $100 cancellation fee, will be refunded within 30 days of withdrawal; however, each situation will be considered individually.
Continuing Education Credits and Requirements for Completion
To receive CE credit for workshops, you must meet all of the requirements below. Our approval agencies will not allow us to issue any form of attendance or other alternative documentation until you meet these requirements. If you do not meet these requirements during the specified workshop days, makeup activities will be assigned.
- Attendance at all class hours; make-up at instructor’s discretion
- Participation in all classroom activities, including practice sessions with classmates and the practicum.
Completion of the 32-hour Pre- and Perinatal Massage Therapy Specialization workshop is the first step toward certification. To have your skills and knowledge verified in our certification process, therapists must purchase a separate Certification Module described in full here. This module may be purchased at any time after your completion of the 32-hour workshop and completed on your own time schedule within one year after purchasing the module. Upon successful completion of this module you will receive the certification.
Body Therapy Education strives to maintain a complete inventory at all times and avoid backorders, but they sometimes do occur. In the event of a backorder, several options are available to you. The first option is to delay the order until our inventory is replenished. Second, we can ship the available books immediately and send the backorders as soon as they arrive. Lastly, we can ship the available books immediately and hold backorders until your next order. Please call and advise your preference.
Claims for short-ships, miss-ships, and books received damaged must be made within 30 days of invoice date. Defective books may be returned with prior authorization, but only within 30 days of invoice date. A packing slip must accompany all claims and include title, quantity, and invoice number. Accepted claims will receive full credit on future orders. Shipments received badly damaged must be reported to our Order Department immediately.
Bulk Order Guidelines
Who qualifies as a bulk order customer?
A bulk order customer is a school, bookstore, or instructor who orders a minimum of 5 or more copies of either Pre & Perinatal Massage Therapy, 1st edition or Deep Tissue Sculpting books by Carole Osborne. A bulk order purchaser receives a 40% discount applied to the retail price of either of these two books at time of shipping. No other items qualify for bulk order discounts.
At this time, bulk orders for Pre- and Perinatal Massage Therapy, 2nd edition are serviced by our publisher. You will need to contact Wolters-Kluwer/Lippincott, Williams & Wilkins at 800-399-3110 (educational sales department), or email them at email@example.com and request to be set-up as a career school to receive an institutional discount.
How do I place a bulk order?
To place a bulk order, please call 858.633.3033 or email Karen@bodytherapyeducation.com. Please be fully prepared with title and quantity. You will need to provide title and price, credit card number and expiration date, or plan to send payment. If you have a purchase order number you would like included on your invoice, please provide that too.
Payment terms are prepaid with credit card, check, money order, or net 30 days by prior arrangement. Actual shipping charges plus a small processing fee will be prepaid by us on your behalf and added to the invoice or credit card charge. Standard shipping is Fed-Ex; however, orders can be expedited for an additional fee if requested.
